Results and bills-

My NT scan results came back finally. Nombie's risk of Trisomy 13, 18, or 21 are all 1: +10,000. So that's great news :)

I also got the letter saying how much I need to make payments on to my OB... for the birth.

Ummm.

I'm never going to understand that about OBs. I don't even know if there is going to be a birth at this point, but I'm expected to go ahead and make payments on it.

It's just a foreign concept for me.

I'm still living week by week, waiting to see if my Nombie is still alive.

Speaking of which... why isn't it Thursday yet?

Ahhh, bills.... they are starting early aren't they! They don't even wait until the 3rd trimester!

After all we pay out for fertility treatments why can't giving birth be the freebie? Like buy two or more fertility treatments get the birth free.

Great news about the test results!

I haven't ever heard of such a thing...start to pay for the birth already? How soon do you have to start? Could you call and ask to wait for a bit, due to your medical history (if that would make you feel better)?

Kelly, I'm going to call them about it tomorrow. It's for "maternity services" and then they refund any money after the fact, if you were overcharged or overpaid. I still think it's weird, but I have heard about practices doing this, instead of just doing co-pays at each visit. I don't know if it's just going off their policy, or a combination of that and my insurance. I will be asking what exactly it covers, and why I'm paying it so soon, etc...

congrats on the good news.

my RE's admin person was trying to bill me for IVF when we were still doing IUIs.

Visiting from ICLW.

Yay on the NT results!!!! I'm so glad you got good news. I'm really hoping others in the IF world have some great news since the regular world is kicking my butt.

wow, can't believe you are being charged so early! Are they just making sure they get their pay?

Great news too!! Go Nombie, go Nombie!

Oh my gosh, I hated that about my OBs office... I had to pay for the birth by the time I was 28 weeks... and then turns out, I couldn't even deliver at that hospital because I got put on bedrest in a DIFFERENT hospital. It was a MESS trying to get my refund so I could pay the new hospital. UGH BUT I am glad your little one is thriving!! YAY for that!

Yay for Nombie! Um, I would NOT like that about the bills. Definitely call and ask if you can put it off for a bit. Ugh.

Great news about the NT scan results!

You need to ask your OBs office about having more time. Seriously. That's a little ridiculous.

Great news about the NT results! Yay Nombie!

I think I had to do that sort of payment thing too, but I switched to my OB at 20 weeks, so I don't know when they usually bill for that. It was kind of nice to have paid for all the copays all at once and not at every visit or NST. I can totally see why that would stress you out though. Hugs. You are doing an awesome job of hanging in there.

Yay for great results for Nombie!
I just can't help but chuckle - the harder you try to get others to understand that you don't consider this pregnancy a done deal, the more they hit you with this stuff! Bless your heart, you just don't need the extra stress!

I'd never heard of paying for a birth in advance! That's a new one for me.
